Tourist – Holding on (ft Josef Salvat & Niia)

Three greats rolled into one, can’t get enough of this. Bring on the summer!

Hinterland Spotlight : LAUV

The other day we caught up with the talented new comer from across the pond, Lauv. If silky smooth singer songwriter/producer is what you’re looking for then get involved.
1. Thank you very much for answering our questions today. So, tell us a bit more about LAUV. Who is LAUV? When and where did you start?
My name is Ari Leff, and I’m a 20-year-old singer, songwriter and producer based in NYC. I’ve been writing songs since I was fourteen, and producing for a number of different projects. Lauv came about this past summer, at a time when I had a lot of stuff going on personally and I was frustrated sitting on a bunch of demos that I was pitching for other artists. The idea of releasing music myself struck when some of the songs I was working on clicked with my voice and production style in a way that they never had before. I was working a lot with my good friend Michael Matosic, and he really pushed me to go for it. It’s definitely the most honest and personal music I’ve made in a long time.
2. What 3 words would you use to describe your music?
3. You dropped your first track ‘The Other’ just last week and the response on blogs and hype machine has been crazy, what are we to expect next from LAUV?
The overwhelming response from the first song I have ever released as Lauv sent me above and beyond Cloud 9. To know that a really complicated and brooding emotion that I confronted through songwriting moved to so many people is the greatest feeling I could dream of as an artist. I’m currently working on my debut EP and cannot wait to share that with the world. Also working on some other fun stuff for everyone to see soon.
4. Do you have any plans for gigs in the near future? A trip to the UK?
Nothing is set in stone right now, but I will definitely be playing shows in the near future.  I’m sure the UK will definitely be in the books.  Hopefully sooner than later.
5. If you could have a super power, what would it be?
You know, I’m not sure I’d want a super power. Being human is all about going through the same things and being there for each other (that’s the best feeling – relating), and any special power that would set me in another category would defeat that. If anything, the power to think less would be nice sometimes. I guess that’s just meditation though.
Listen to Lauv’s debut track ‘The Other’ below, it’s a corker.

The Rebel Light – Strangers

The Rebel Light Venice 4

This month’s new release from across the pond comes from the talented trio The Rebel Light. Their track ‘Strangers’ which has been received with great praise in the U.S was self-produced by the LA based group which comprises of two brothers and their cousin.

As the daylight of British spring slowly creeps through the afternoon and soon passes 6 o’clock we are reminded that the infamous summer season does in fact exist. The glowing synths and catchy choruses of this track aid us to fantasise over festival camping and Mr Freezes whilst simultaneously causing us to revel in hazy nostalgia and comparisons of The Shins and the chiming 60s. The accompanied love story video is timeless yet current and makes it known that the sync opportunities for this track are infinite.

For a scene saturated with ‘vibey’ and ‘bloggy’ tunes as of late, this track is a breath of fresh air. We can’t wait to see what the guys have in store for the future, but in the meantime, sit back, preferably in a Hawaiian shirt, and enjoy ‘Strangers’:
